If you choose the FOLLOWER belief CHORAL MUSIC, which adds +2 culture to any city with a temple, it will NOT work with Egypt's Burial tombs, even though they are a temple replacement. My cities have +5 population so it should work, but I think it's a bug. I just learned this the hard way.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Terrible belief is terrible.
Does it really say 5 pop or actually 5 followers?

Might wanna add a screenshot with mouse-over the culture output of the city (preferably in a city without other culture sources).

Haha probably why no one has found it yet is that pretty much nobody ever takes that pantheon.

It's 5 followers, not 5 population. I've used this belief as Egypt and can't recall ever noticing it not working. (I can't remember well enough to actually confirm it's not a bug, only that I can't remember it ever not working. As a side note I do remember using the happiness one and it does in fact work. My guess is the OP just misread what the belief actually says.)

You are probably right. I haven't checked the game yet, but I did base it on population. Whoops.
:goodjob:

Is it really that bad anymore? Buildings give very low culture now, so having temples give 2 culture sounds pretty good.

No, it's not bad. People here when giving advice seems to always assume that you go 'all-in' all the time.
This kind of beliefs are very doable in games where you don't go piety but still got a religion. Sure pagodas (and the other faith buildings) are probably better, but in a (for you) faith scarce game, it can be better to have something to build with hammers than with faith. So going for a semi-passive belief (exactly what depend on situation) or even go for a totally passive belief can be good or even better.

Like so many things it depends on your game. It's not as good as Mosques or Pagodas if you go tall, found/annex your cities and have enough faith, but it's pretty useful in wide empires with lots of puppets.

I often take choral music as my second follower policy.

That's because I try and get the +2 happiness from temples for my first policy, and so I prefer any policy that adds on top of that, so that I get more stuff for the same hammers. If I take the +2 happiness, then for sure I am building a temple in every city--getting even more for my temple is great. I prefer feed the world, but if it's gone, then I take choral music.

I never take pagodas/cathedrals/etc other than exceptional circumstances. Those things eat up way more faith than they are worth. You lose a ton of faith early, to build them, and get it back later on, when nobody cares. They are all horrible policies that I avoid like the plague, unless I am suffering miserable unhappiness and need a boost no matter how I can get it.

Every one of those things you buy is one less missionary spreading your religion when it matters. They are an invitation for the AI to come and convert all your cities because your religion hasn't spread far enough to be resilient. I bet the people who say they love these things are the same people who complain that the AI spams them with missionaries :)

Well the buildings lost a lot of oomph! with BNW where you need tourism to win a CV, not culture any more. You take Pagodas now mainly for the happiness. Period. Ceremonial Burial for the same reason. Now most of the time though you don't even need happiness, so you take Tithe and Religious Community for raw Cash and Hammers which aren't only super strong but also most flexible. If either of them is already gone you take Feed the World as +1 food in every city and another +1 food in many of your cities or all later in the game is simple like +1 pop per city. Only if those mentioned aren't available you really have to think about what the next best option is in your current situation.

PS: I never buy more than 1 Missionary. Either I have no own religion or 1 will be enough to get it going in all my cities and make it spread further automatically. All other faith obviously needs to be stored up for scientists or great writers (and 1 engineer).
