I have just started play FfH, amazing mod. II am now downloading 2.3 so I wil have to start a nnew game but in my current one as the elves is had forests everywhere except in my cities. I was wondering could so of the elves house modles be turned into trees, I think the is more real as they certainly would have had trees in their cities. Please concider this.

My problem with Elves is that the forestry I promotion don't give an offensive benefit when attacking into a forest, which I feel unfair for the Elves (that thus should fear having forests adjacents to cities for example). Same problem with Dwarves & hills by the way.

The racial defense bonus is rather small, and there's always the Woodsman and Guerrilla promotions for attacking into forests/hills.

IIRC Woodsman gives you both defense and attack boni, but Guerilla gives only defense bonus, which is unfair for dwarves, but difficult to script around.

With Hidden Paths you can use Woodsman II promotion for total 100% bonus in woods (110% for elves).

EDIT: Maybe the boni just don't show correctly, there have been reported such problems in .23 Bug Thread.

Guerilla isnt really unfair cause it can be used as an additional City Defense bonus. Which Woodsman can't.

Don't know but in 0.22 Woodman was not giving an offence bonus against a troop in forest. So bug or WAD?

There's a screenshot from .22 (the latest patch) game. Woodsman I almost negates forest defensive bonus. Woodsman II would make it better than attacking on plains.

doing this seems to give the elves to much of an advatage but if you took away some of thier city defense promotion and also 86 walls and castles from the elvens buildable buildings it might even itself out, but would make it slightly unbalanced, I would end up building only rangers, and now with .23 elven longbowman are very good to have as attackers and defenders, not so good with city attack.

with guardian of nature ancient civic i notice that forest spring up in elven cities. the benefits of ancient forest (food, shield, spells, defenses) is within the city. forest is power for elves, maybe this might be the reason why as elves should focus on elves techs and civics.

Now this is weird, I tested that with Elves and rangers and could have sworn I had not the bonus... :crazyeye:
