PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP!? I downloaded the RPG maker 2000 and its sub file, i used it for a couple of days. I then went and downloaded a character creator, it updated the files and next time i looked the RPG folder had juped from 25Mb to 8Gb!

My pc's only 20Gb and this used it all up!
I can't delete it  , please can someone help me! :(

I'm not a computer genious, but no one else has replied.

What in the folder makes it that big? (right click and then properties if nothing else works).

Did you try to manually delete it (right click and delete or drag to recycle bin) or did you try add/remove programs in the control panel?

i tired manually deleting it, and the large folders are the rpg maker and tester

Try using the add/remove option in the control panel. If that doesn't work maybe try restarting in safe mode (F8 (?) on startup) to try and delete it.

Sometimes programs won't let you delete them because they are being used by another program. Look in the icon tray (lower right on screen) to see if a program there is running and using stuff in the folder. Or maybe check ctrl+alt+delete to check programs/apps that might be using it.

Also, sometimes if a program is downloading stuff from that folder it won't let you move/delete it.

That's all I can think of.

None of that works, i think somehow the uninstillation program was deleted when it was "updated"

Even restarting in safe mode? Hrm ... I'm pretty good and fixing comp stuff given enough time ... And access to the computer. Maybe someone with more comp tech knowledge than myself could help out?

Well. hopefully im getting a new pc soon, in about 4 months so ill just have to make do

what OS are you using?

earlier windows (98, 95, not sure about 2000) were dos based so you could run in dos mode. shouldn't be any problems deleting it from there.

can you just give me some details on what OS you're running, and the error message you get when you try to delete.

I have no experience with the software "RPG Maker", but one update and it grabbed so much space? Doesn't sound right. Have you checked for virus/hacker activities?

If the uninstall option doesn't work, then forget it... we'll remove the thing manually. But please be more specific about the error... you said you've tried to delete it, but can't? What error message have you got when you try to delete them?

if it does big things with graphics, i can see it taking up a lot of space, but yeah it is unusual. I'm more concerned as to why it can't be deleted, as that is very unusual for this type of program.

I have windows ME, and the error message is "uninstallation program innaccesible"

and what about when you try to manually delete the program folder?

I can't, it just wont go, and if i add/remove then i get the same message

do you have the ability to re-start in dos mode? not sure if ME had that. if so, we can delete it in dos mode :undecide:

and just to clarify, you go to the folder, select it, press delete, and nothing happens? no boxes pop up or anything?

I can't start in DOS-i think-and yes, nothing happens. Well, if nothing works then i'll have to wait until i get my new pc

That's really weird. I know RPGMaker2k uses alot of bitmaps, so that may explain the large file size, but if so you should be able to delete it.

What is the name of the file itself? Also, is this a seperate program or an addition to RTP?

No, we don't mean using the add/remove program in control panel.

We meant deleting the folder using *Windows Explorer*. If the files are not in use (e.g. RPGMaker is not running), you should be able to remove the files.

If the files won't go (which means they're in use), then you need to:
1. Press ALT-CTRL-DEL
2. Select Task Manager
3. Click on Process tab.
4. Select each item and press End Process. Do this for all items except SERVICES, SYSTEM and SYSTEM IDLE PROCESS.
5. Now go and remove the files.

That will not clean RPG Maker completely - it will have registry entries left behind, and maybe some files too. See if you can find another RPGMaker user with computer knowledge to tell you where all the leftover items are, and thus how to remove them.

If even that won't work, I'd say you're in trouble - some kind of suspicous program or virus is in your system.

BTW, restart your computer afterwards. Some process you've killed are needed for normal operations.

i can't manually delete it at all, and the file is called RPGmaker2000, i just don't kmow the problem

I mean the character creator, what is it?

Also, you should be able to delete the RTP folder regardless, as that is just a bunch of *.wav *.mp3(I think) *.btm and *.png files. that should really cut down the space.

Anouther thing, does RPGMaker run?

PS. I am pretty sure RPGMaker2k does not have any additional regestry entries of files, becouse it can be run if you simply move the folder from comoputer to computer. I have done this myself.
