After the fact that the AI is so dumb that it needs to get insane bonuses so that it can be able to fight with me, second thing that Civ5 lacks in my opinion are emotions between nations and leaders.

My ideas about how this could be improved:

Separate interests from emotions (if someone who is in neutral relationship with you sees interest in attacking you he or she should simply attack you and say something like "sorry but you are a convenient target" without denouncing you first and yelling on you every 2 minutes...)

Decrease backstabbing (when you're very friendly with someone it should be almost sure that he or she will not attack you unless under extreme conditions)

In case of backstabbing player who did the backstabbing could get unhappiness penalty for attacking a friendly nation + relationship penalty with all other nations because he's not a trustworthy leader (the more friendly he was with the nation he attacked, the higher penalties he gets)

Small happiness bonus and small relationship bonus with all nations when you defend a friend (someone attacks a nation that you're very friendly with and than you declare war on that someone)

Put back in the ability of siege equipement to sometimes alongside damaging city defenses it kills some of the citizens (that way sieges feel much more personal)

These are just ideas that i was able to think of quickly, please feel free to give your own ideas and criticize my ideas if they were bad.
