Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I just bought Conquests, but when installation reaches 100%, I get the following message:
"instert disk 0 that contains the file data3.cab"

(sorry if there already is a topic on this subject, the search doesn't work)

Welcome here, Protput! :-)

Ahem... I am sure, that you already own and have installed Civ3, haven't you?

This problem is unknown to me. Installation was no problem at all, for neither Civ3, nor PTW nor C3C.
But, did you check the correct language when installing C3C? Maybe, that could have caused some trouble (for instance, if you have run Civ3 in French, but tried to install C3C in English, or any other combination...)

If this doesn't help, and installation continues to stop, I would recommend to go to your local dealer where you bought the C3C and check it out there and get another copy of it, if it doesn't work at their systems.

There is a special forum for this I believe, check the Civ3 - Technical Support forum. Maybe they can help you!

Oh and yes welcome to CivFanatics!

Data3.cab is on the second disk of the Gold Edition of Civ3

- aka "Play the World", at least the cab file.

It is different from Civ3 Vanilla and PTW because you have most Data on Disk 1 and only data3.cab on the 2nd disk.

Hope this helps.

That wouldn't comply with the quoted error message since that refers to disk0.....

Perhaps the issuing person should give us more hints about which version is about to be installed...

The problem has been solved in the mean time.
For some reason, the error doesn't occur when installing the game with my cd-burner instead of my regular cd-rom-drive.
Somebody suggested this to me, because he had similar experiences with other games.
Anyhow, now it works!
