error with patch_174

Hello, Ive had my Civ 4 game for some time but i'd always play on singleplayer. I decided i wanted to check out multiplayer so I went to internet games. Once i got to that page this small window came up saying i had to install patch_174. I tried to download it but it keeps saying "patch failed to download succesfully". Can someone help me out???

Try downloading the patch directly from the web as a binary file.
