Europa Barbarorum Team is looking for help with Europa Barbarorum 2, a total conversion mod for the award winning Medieval2: Total War. Help is needed in the modeling and skinning departments.

We need artists who work with 3DSMax and/or Milkshape as these are the tools we use to create the models and import them into the game.

If you don't know about us, here's a brief introduction. It started in 2004 when a group of people gathered historically accurate info about barbarian factions and offered it to Creative Assembly, to be used on their upcoming (back then of course) Rome: Total War. The offer was not accepted, so the group decided to get more people and make a mod of their own.

After a long period of development, Europa Barbarorum v1.0 was released in the Fall of 2007, producing a mod that has earned many TWC and ORG awards, among them Best Mod for RTW. Our very active public forums can be found here.

Also EB has received attention in gaming magazines, receiving very positive reviews:

PC GAMER UK (English), January 2008
"startlingly expansive" " it feels like a whole new Total War game." They also mention the mod's "stunning scope", and state that "from the menus to the new music and loading screens, this is way beyond almost any mod you've ever played." EB is "a master's challenge for accomplished Rome players," and "not just Rome in a fright wig speaking in a funny accent - the game itself is altered and deepened." They also mention that EB's "stuffy historical detail = (a) superior game," and they close by saying "it's a more satisfyingly complex affair than in any official Total War game."

BGAMER (Portuguese), #113, December 2007
"A mod which strongly aims for historical accuracy and is practically indispensable for those who own the game."
"This is a mod which you won't wish to lose for Rome: Total War."

GAMESTAR (German)
"For the old Romans, Barbarians were people without education, but with this word they could not have meant the creators of EB, because the people making this mod have studied History and Archeology."
"They have put special effort on the historical facts and have banned all historic mistakes out of the game."
"The developers have redone all units with much love for detail, and new units have been implemented into the game'"

The latest release of Europa Barbarorum, 1.0 has been downloaded by more than 70,000 people and counting at the time this ad was written.

The team is composed of diverse people from all over the world that specialize in different domains. Most of us are brought together by our passion for history, ancient history in particular. All our historians are people with vast knowledge of their domain and some do this for living with the diplomas to back them up. If you have an interest in history you'll enjoy yourself a lot reading the very well informed posts and bringing to life accurate units and equipment.

For EB2 we will be striving to create an even better experience than EB1, this time for the Kingdoms expansion of Medieval2: Total War developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega. This includes new fun and intelligent mechanics for the strategic map and a great number of units for the battle map. We wish to reach or come very close to the hardcoded limit of 500, but for that we need as many motivated and skilled artists as possible. There is a lot of interest in this mod, and the sooner we release the better it will be.

An example of what EB2(right) will look in comparison to EB1(left).

If you decide to join, you'll be having fun bringing to life units based on images of archaeological evidence and also excellent concept arts while of course learning history and honing your skills and boosting your portfolio. As EB has gained the attention of major gaming industry magazines, and even companies, you'd be perhaps surprised to find out it will also look good on your CV, and you just might get a job opportunity.

I like those hoplites with different shields.
