Everybody hates me.. :(

(well at least all the AI-players)

Can anyone tell me: What's the best way to get them to like me again?

Grz,

I laughed at that, but its true. The AI's are so violent, yet so defenseless.

I figure I did something wrong if all civs are not furious by by late middle ages. Most are annoyed as soon as I meet them.

But you may be able to placate them with gifts and trades, if you wish to try.

I'm not a diplomat - so I rarely get concerned about rep hits

Besides, who cares what the AI thinks about you if your goal is to crush them.

The only thing I specifically prohibit myself from doing is RoP rape

I think the key word in the question is "again".
After I take a rep hit no one will ever do a per turn trade with me "again" for the rest of the game. After the rep hit it is best to just kill them all.

if they are furious, you have no hope of getting them to like you. but annoyed, you have a chance. Try giving techs or gold. also, MAs, but whenever you or the AI makes peace they hate you again.

No. Kill them all.

Last time I saved I was ranked 4th and I am behind on techs because of a 100 year war against several of them. So.. right now, my main objective is just to stay alive.

I did make a really nice Machiavellian play just now by forming mutual defence pacts with two of my neighbours on my continent and then getting the third one, Japan, to declare war on me.. :D

Then much to my surprise the number one empire, the Zulus joined the war also decided to also declare war on Japan. They cleared them off the continent and I got two cities!! :goodjob:

Was that actually good for you? The Zulus just got more powerful and if they turn on you...

The AI is always negative. They must have used negative-algorithms when programming

It was good for me, for now anyways.. Sometimes you have to take what you can get, right? I mean, sometimes it's just better to take a small loss then being stuck in a war that isn't going anywhere.

Besides...

I got three extra cities, kicked out one empire off 'my' island and got the Zulus and the Japanese to hate eachother. Now I can use the Japanese again to fight the Zulu's in my war against them, aye?

I do not think, that it so important to have good reputation. In the game who is stronger, that and wins. If you want to have many resources and luxury, simply win them.:) It is simple enough. :smug:

That is one position, but if you got the bad rep by intentionally breaking deals, that is more of an exploit. If you got it otherwise, then I am with you.

I have the exact opposite problem.....Everyone loves me so much, I can't get them to declare war on me! I break treaties, invade countries, launch nukes, and the AI (Except for the one on the receiving end, of course :mischief: ) loves me! And for some reason, even if I break every treaty ever made, the stupid AI will still sign treaties! I like it, but it gets really, really annoying being loved so much...

That can only happen if you are super strong compared to them and even then they usually will declare if a nuke is launced. Were nukes used before then?
