I have some questions to the makers of this "masterpiece".
1. Where is the evolution theory!?! Charles Darwin, who accompanied me through part I, II and III of this game now is simply gone!!
Did you remove it just because of the poltical discussion in the US? Religion was implemented, Darwin was removed. I see...
Did you want to avoid negative ratings of conservative media in the US?
2. The national Wonders "Broadway" and " Hollywood" such as the technology "Rock'n roll" and it's related ressources just are ridiculous and a bit too patriotic for a game that is released all over the world.
It would have been better to build film-studio and instead of "broadway" and "musicals" a "grand opera" and "operas". I absolutely dislike Rock'n Roll. Why do I have to invent this stuff! It's strange that this is a technology at all!

The wonders in your point #2 were real reasons for America's cultural dominance in the 20th century. I don't see anything wrong with having them, the resources are absolutely necessary for diplomatic victory for me.
Point #1, I'm not quite sure on, but it's certainly not a big deal. Now this is simulated through great people better than the wonder could do it, though.

Did you watch the slideshow that starts with Leonard Nimoy saying, "In the Beginning..."?

They had that in CIVI as well, so nothing to say here, but hes correct, the Darwin-Wonder is missing in the Game, most likely taken out for uselessnes.

Right after the game loads, there's a slideshow that looks like Leonardo DaVinci drawings on old parchment. After you start a game, don't hit "Play Now" and just let it run.

If you're on old school civver. the music may ring a bell too. :goodjob:

1) I'm sure Darwin is in as a Great Scientist (of course that means he maybe around to help you discover swords instead of Selection....but I'm guessing a high science player will likely see him.

Yeah, the Eiffel Tower should have been "tall metal structure" and the Pyramids should have been "ancient tomb-like building."

Rome had a cultural dominance 2000 years ago and there are no 2 national roman Wonders and 3 roman ressources in the anicient era.Lol I really don't believe that Rock'n Roll made america dominant.

Lol of course not.
But music, movies and musicals are cultural goods of EVERY nation. The american wonders dominate the game.

What do you expect? The game makers are American, therefore they will have a natural bias towards American culture.

Nevermind that the 'Broadway' is ridiculous. Why not have the London West End? It's certainly older.

As for Rock n Roll, why not have classical music? I think overall its had a bigger impression on the human mind (Think of pretty much any film released, think of the musical score - classical strings).

Instead of Hollywood, why not have Bollywood? It's far bigger, producing more films and possbily reaching a larger audience.

You could argue the case for an eternity and still no correct answer would come up.

as for not including Theory of Evolution Wonder, I'm surprised either, as it seems that a lot of America is regressing into creationist theories.

For an such an advanced country, America sure have some odd notions!

The same problem:

I think you agree, that industrial, Industrious and Organized are the most important traits in Civ4.
and now considers which Civilization gets this three traits..... the american one ;)

There are colosseums throughout the game. That is one of the things that made Rome popular, and even though they aren't a wonder, they certainly increase happiness and culture for any city that builds them. I'd say that colosseums, aqueducts and other Roman influenced buildings do Rome more credit than any wonder.

Darwin's work wasn't really a "wonder", anyway. I never thought that it made sense to call it a wonder. His publication can be considered a "great work", however.

Outside the Indian communities, who watches Bollywood films? They may produce more but they certainly don't produce quality films, much less quality films that bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. Take Lord of the Rings, or better yet, Star Wars, for examples. America is clearly the number one culture in the world, with McDonalds, StarBucks and Pizza Huts opening all over the place, and American movies postered and acclaimed throughout the world.

Haven't you researched Biology?

YEAH! Bollywood - the indians have only few wonders (any??) and bollywood is the world largest film industrie, classical musik and West End! That would be fair!! I totally agree. Btw - modding shall be easy in CIV IV ;)
The game makers are american, but CIV always was a game that connected many cultures and balanced their cultural dominance in Part I, II and III. This time it's a bit too patriotic I think.
Also see the civ attributes. Same story, thank you Xardas

It could be also argued that it wasn't fully his idea but the point you made could be put to things like Rock n Roll and Broadway - music and plays/musicals certainly aren't an American invention, even though most Americans probably think they are, like the car and the Internet!

The main point I was putting across is from an American point of view things like Starbucks are massive and culture affecting - but for how long? You are only looking at one age, while you look back other things have had so much more influence than a burger restaurant or film, like the English Empire's spread of the English language.

Who knows what will happen in a few decades when China overtakes a tired and corrupt America as the number one Superpower!

??????????????? Why no MC Donalds wonder?????? And little Big Mac icons in the game????
You even could build little MC Donalds mangers, who spread restaurants all over the world. Instead of - let's say ISLAM!! ROFL

That would be so good!

Also, as with the religions sweeping a country, fast food franchises could do the same!!

Taco Bell has replaced Burger King as the State Junk Food!
