similar bug to ge free stuff from waring civ, but this bug works with all situation

Free gold from AI:
  1. start trade with AI
  2. ask them for 1 gold per turn
  3. put 1 gold per turn on your side too
  4. ask, what will make the deal work
  5. AI: i'm sure we can do business alone these lines
  6. right click on AI's 1 gold per turn
  7. change the number to what ever u want (something like 500 gold per turn)
  8. click we accept the deal
  9. 1 gold per turn to AI for n number of gold per turn
similarly, u can do with gold sum, give him 10 gold, ask 10 gold, then change their number to what ever u want

Buy anything for 10 gold/1 gold per turn:
this doesnt work that well, but it works,

  1. get lotta gold first (2k+)
  2. ask for a tech/resource/ anything
  3. put all your gold on as an offer
  4. ask, what will make the deal work
  5. if u have enough money, AI will say we accept, or they might add a thing or 2 if you dont have enough money
  6. right click on your gold, change amount to 10gold/1 gold per turn
  7. click we accept your offer
this only work when u got enough money for the "normal" deal

when u right click on your gold, and u removed something else, do this
remember what he was asking, if he is asking for 50gold per turn and cow, put 50gold per turn first, then put cow next. then right click to change amount of gold

this works with all gold based trading

Well, holy effing sh!t, this really works??? Where's that guy again who claimed that Civ4 doesn't even need a patch? :D

Thanks for taking the time to post these pics. If these really work the way you describe, then that is by far the most serious gameplay bug that has been discovered so far. I mean, this greatly exceeds the already very serious peace negotiation bug.

That's awesome:goodjob:!!! How did you figure that one out. You obviously were trying to cheat in the first place to "stumble" upon that one. It however is quite depressing how more and more bugs are discovered every day.

i was trying to find out whats the minimum gold they will accept, then its 10 gold...

i hope it gets in the first patch, im reporting this too late, could be serious exploit in MP, when some one drops and other continues, u just use this bug to trick the take over AI.

also, when u trade something like
expensive resource for u for 1 gold per turn,
after about 20 turns, the AI comes back to u and says
"We are no longer interested in this deal, its not fair" :D

This has been mentioned multiple times previously. Yeah - it's a bad bug for MP games that have AIs included, but other than that it's just a cheap exploit that any decent player will avoid.

yep, no excuse not to fix it though.

Oh - I definitely agree that it should be fixed. I've just seen some pretty laughable reactions in some of the threads regarding this bug... stuff like:

Diplomacy is BROKEN!
MAJOR diplomacy bug!
etc.

Yeah - it's a bug and needs fixing. But it doesn't make the game unplayable by any means.

thats actually a different bug u were talking about.
that bug is where AI tries to put down counter offer on your side, but the game prevents u saying something like, during war, only 1 side can offer stuff. but the AI still thought u have those items laid down on the trade table so they gladly accept

Definitely a major bug but how hard is it to simply NOT do it? Obviously most people don't stumble upon this kind of thing by accident.

Kinda the same way I felt about Civ3. You could cheese diplomacy by giving AIs 1g at a time to build good relations - but it was obviously cheese - so just don't do it.

It's easy to stumble on something like this by accident; simply trying to get the best deal you can will ultimately reveal this problem. Given an interface and thousands of people interacting with it, all possible breakages will be found in short order. Just look at the number of different bug reports within days of the release.

While I agree that one can simply not exploit the bug in a single player game the main problem is in multiplayer - and civ is finally playable multiplayer, so it should be as secure/bug-free as possible. If you are playing online with people you don't know/trust, how can you be certain that they will not exploit a bug. Try proving it if it's only for a tech or two here and there, or a couple hundred gold. Even suspecting someone of cheating is enough to take the enjoyment out of a game.

Jeremy.

I discovered you could be even more evil by giving them just one gold. They will accept it if you do the right-click thing you discovered panzooka. It is great when you want to make civs war with each other so you don't have to pay some insane amount of money for it. Just let them offer and then ask what will make this work and then right-click to just one gold or two when I feel bad and watch them go to war for 1 gold.

It is definitely a major bug and it most definitely makes the game unplayable for multiplayer games with AI involvement.

The "Just don't do it" solution doesn't quite work in multiplayer.

lol! I like how Genghis Khan tells you to leave after you're done robbing him.

"Sure Genghis, I'll leave. Right after you help me carry all your gold to my caravan."

But it is still a MAJOR bug and this feature is BROKEN.
