The last exploration poll from me. :)

exploration3200bc.jpg

I've made some decisions on my own but if you don't agree with them please say so and I'll listen to your suggestions.
The legion in the west will explore the NW coast. (yellow arrow
The archer will go to TF and escort the settler to its intended city spot. (purple arrow and dot)

Now I'm asking for your votes:

The chariot: it can go south to reveal the coast near RC which will be option D or it can go east and explore the continent, option C. My suggestion would be to go with option C, before we will be able to settle this part of the continent it will take a long time and by then the chariot will most likely have finished exploration of the entire thing.
The legion in Nineveh: When we will decide to keep the city the legion will explore the tiles in the city radius and then return to defend the city. If we decide to disband the city we might want it to stay around to defend the city that will be founded (option defense - not shown in map!!!). We can also choose to let it explore, it can go north (option A) or it can join the other legion to back eachother up in the case of an attack (option B)

Now vote!!! (and discuss ;) )

I think the legion should definately reveal the last city squares for Ninevah, then decide after that decide whether or not to carry on exploring or return to Ninevah.:goodjob:

The legion should explore the radius of Nineveh, then carry on exploring. The Chariot should go along route C, to explore more of the continent.

Are we using the archer to stop disorder in the Gem city in the future then? If not then I would rather see the archer explore the northern coast around RC but it depends whether we want the Gem city to build a wonder straight away or to build a defender first.

If there are huts to the south then the chariot should go and pop them as hopefully we should get another unit to help us explore the east of RC.

I am keeper of Ninevah, so I would like the legion to explore the region around it to be used as defence if its needed.

Legion to A, Chariot to C

Hello all. This is my first post to the demo game, so please forgive the simplicity of my query. I must say, first, that you all are a solid bunch of contributors, and it makes this forum particularly attractive to a "newbie" such as myself (especially the the map uploads!) looking for a demo game. Many thanks! :) I plan on lurking for a while, all the while keeping informed and voting on polls, etc.

Now my question: With regard to moving the chariot, I find myself inclined to agree with Becka, Ren and Civ1-addict that (C) seems to be a solid move at this point for several reasons. And yet, I was wondering if Duke of Marlbrough could say a bit more about why he thinks

"It looks like the territory for C is mostly water"

If this is correct, then (D) seems to be a better choice after all. But given my limited perspective here, I can't tell what the shape of the NE part of the island will be. Duke, could you share your reasons with a newbie? Much obliged! :D

Welcome to the game!

Back to the discussion, however, I'd have to say the chariot should go to exlplore the north RC shore. In all likliness, this is the rest of the continent, and RC and Thunderfalls are on a peninsla. This are would have to be worked into a city plan, perhaps effectively with Nineveh.

Welcome to the game. :)

Simply because we can see that we are along the coast as it is. Unless the land is narrowing and then opens up again, I don't think there will be much land up there. We know there is land between the Chariot and RC. Not only that, but most likely land with huts. ;)

A and D. A refinement: rather than A North, how about NE, then walk around counter clockwise, and probably back into Nineveh? The other Legion is coming up, so it depends on what we find -- maybe excitement will appear in the next several turns. Chariot to D to explore what is across the strait from Regia Civitas.

I say that the legion from Nineveh should head to "A". Reason being: If it goes to the hill, an AI horseman could come out of the black and capture Nineveh with no warning. If the legion goes to "A", then the hill means that this can't happen.

Not a high chance of the AI doing this, but might as well be safe(r). :D

As far as the chariot is concerned, I am actually in favour of the "C" option. I think that it is easier to check out the north coast and then double-back south than vice-versa.

I'm going to vote for D as if the chariot can find a hut then we may get another unit that would speed up our exploration.
