Extracting Maps from Bic Files

I recently downloaded the Marla Singer's Whole Earth Bic file.
I would like to play the map. However I want to play it with my own rules not the embedded rules.

How do you remove the map from the bic file? Can you save and just play the map?
Is there a way to import the standard rules into this bic?

I would guess that you could open the bic and then tick "restore Default rules"

There is some drop down menu in the editor with these options: "Use custom rules", "Use custom map", "Use custom player data". You can choose whichever you like.
