fails to load

Hi all,
I've just bought Civ IV, but I can't seem to get it to run after installing it I went to start the game but every time I try and load it up I get a pop up error saying "the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click ok to terminate….” I’ve tried re-installing and still get the same problems. I’m running on XP prof with a AMD athlon 1.9 GHz and 512 RAM also I have a Gforce 6600 series 256MB video card.

Any ideas??
