Myotonic goats are also called Wooden Leg goats, "stiff leg" or Tennessee fainting goats. These are one of the few goats that are indigenous to the U.S. There are two strains of this animal. Most of those found in Tennessee and the eastern U.S. are smaller. When the goat is being fed or becomes startled its muscules become stiff allowing the goat to fall on the ground in a fainting position.

I remember being shown clips of fainting goats during a lecture a while back. Cracking stuff.
 
but we've domesticated them a while ago... I'm not sure Darwin applies in the presence of a protector.

Also, I'm curious to know if they developped the deffect before domestication or after.

Darwin never took humor into account! Imagine you're a wolf chasing one of these goats, and all over sudden it freezes and drops itself... you'd be roling in the mud laughing!
