Okay, so I was watching Telemundo, and I decided to stay for a minute to hear the Family Guy theme song in Spanish...

...It was horrible. It's like the producers didn't care if the lines... er... rhymed and fit into the lines.

So, obviously, I made a new one.

Here's the original theme song:

It seems today
that all you see
is violence in movies and sex on TV
But where all those good 'ol fashioned values
On which we used to rely?

Lucky there's a family guy
Lucky there's a man who
Positively can do
All the things that make us
Laugh and cry
HE'S A FAMI-LY GUY!!!

And the new, improved theme song in Spanish:

Parece que hoy
lo que se ve
es violencia en el cine
y sexo en la T.V.
Pero dónde están esos valores
en que solíamos confiar

Pero hay un tipo familiar
Que bueno que hay un hombre
Que de verdad puede
Hacer lo que nos hace
Reír y llorar
TI-PO FA-MI-LIAR!!!

Meh. The entire show doesn't translate well to another language. Most of the jokes don't translate at all. The title theme is just the tip of the iceberg.

I watched it everyday in Mexico and I noticed the show is censored to have all the Jesus and Pope jokes removed as well as all the drug references and some of the lines and dialogue are completely changed. But they still keep all the weird and esoteric references to people whom nobody outside of the US has ever heard about in their lifetimes. I bet these are the same Spanish formats they show on Telemundo.

You're right. I only watch the theme song.

Why in the hell would they do that with the Jesus and Pope jokes? I mean, obviously it's offensive, but c'mon! You can't deny Seth MacFarlane has a bone to pick with the Catholic Church. And if anybody can get the drug references, it's Mexicans. Damn, drug traffic is taking a huge toll. But Seth has always had a sick sense of humor.

Yeah the scene where Brian and Stewie knock the Pope off of his balcony and hang him up on the statue in the middle of St. Peter's square with his ass hanging out. Also the scene where John Paul II is acting like a little kid and is mad at having to get up do Catholic stuff. Those are gone.:(

On the other hand they did keep the hispanic immigrant/Mexican bashing jokes IIRC.
