I've been playing with the Fast Tiny Cheiften Conquests. I chose this because I can play one handed in about the amount of time that the baby takes to drink a bottle.

I did have one very good game where I tied the fastest finishes to date. I can't submit this though because I didn't save at 4000BC :( I had a second game where I finished in 3250BC or so and did submit.

Anyway, I didn't see any threads on the best settings to win.

I have taken to playing Aztecs (Duh!) with a 80% water Pangeae with warm, dry settings. I take a start that has any food bonus. A lot of these are FP Wheat. Barbarians are off (to remove goody huts). I take 2 Expansionist AIs, but I need to refine this a little more. Expansionist is chosen so that the AIs have a chance to find me.

Typical start of join the worker, turn 2 rush a Jag Warrior. In the very good game above I spotted a Russian scout on turn 2. and quickly went to Russia's capitol and walked in unopposed. By the time I got to the other capitol there was a solitary warrior defending and I defeated it.

The other decent game had me walking into the first city unopposed and then I lost the first Jag that attacked.

Most games take between 5 and 10 minutes. Occasionally I get stuborn and keep throughing Jags at a spear even though I am out of HOF contention.

I have played with a few warlord level games as well, and they go about the same, but you need more luck.

Is there anything anyone does differently? Especially as you go to harder difficulties?

I might turn this arround and go for fast tiny Domination wins. The main difference in strategy would be to do some research and to turn Respawn AI on so that they will found a few more cities for me. Maybe I'd add a 3rd AI...

Expansionist for your opponent is good, for the reasons you've mentioned. For land I would try to get as bare and clear as possible, maybe dry, cold.

However, for Aztecs use PTW. Jags have been neutered in conquests since they cost 15 shields. Also all you need in chieftain for your start is 2 forests, join the worker and bam, 2 turn jags from the turn one.

I recently tied the fastest conquest on tiny using americans and iroquis and setting culturally linked civs, whether this spawned them nearer I don't know. But they were close enough to reach them and win by 3650 BC.

Now, domination is a whole different ball game. I think you could have a good domination attempt with the aztecs, in conquests, but I doubt you could touch the fastest chief conquest, in conquests.
