what's your favorite civ? mine is the romans because of their military power. they're pretty smart, too. what's your fav. civ and why?

Carthaginians or Aztecs because I like to rewrite history -- imagine geopolitics where the focus and the unifying aspect are the major seas rather than the continents: Mediterranean, Indian, Caribbean, etc. instead of Europe, Africa, Asia...

Can't beat those Chinese when you just want to take over the world!

Welcome to Civfanatics, viciman, but next time I might put this kind of post in the civ3 forum instead of here!

Persia, best Civ in the game. Unstoppable with armies of its UU and the traits are one of the best combo's ever.

Mongols, because I can quickly get new techs at the begining with the expanaionist trait while the militaristic trait allows me to concentrate on building culture and what-not without having to focus on defense, and their unique unit lets me wage the occasional quick war of complete destruction. ;)

Persians becuse of their amazing UU, and great traits.

The persians are simply tacticaly fit to my playing style.

Hey Persian if we ever meet on line it's gonna be hell diciding who get's Persia ;)

i mostly play as Greece, which has bored me unbelievably (the hoplite should have 2 attack 3 defence, since the legion has 3/3) Which civ should i choose?
due to the traits of Greece i always wait till i have markets and colloseums, then become a republic, and after building at least 10 knights i attack, but most of the time i am just building the infrastructure. A more military-oriented civ might be nice for a change i guess.

i am mostly defensive. There isnt anyone in the forts atm because the aztecs tried to blackmail me, and declared war when i didnt give in, so the entire army is involved in a stalemate in the northern border. Originally the forts were built to keep the dutch out, because they have crusaders, and launched an attack both from that border, and by landing some swiss pikemen to the east of my domain. That too was a stalemate, so i paid them off with 140 gold and they agreed to make peace.

You know now that I think about it Russia and Germany are good civs to.

I'm a builder who usually wins through diplomatic means or culture, and I occaisionally wage a war or two.

Which is the best civ for me? I usually have Japan, because of the religious trait, which is good and the fact that with the Samurai there is little chance I'll get rolled if I get attacked.

Bear in mind that I have Vanilla Civ and play on an extremely low level.

I love the way Englands PTW traits make it a commercial superpower on the huge maps I play, especially in the end game.

I love playing as any AGR civ, just because they grow so much faster = more shields = more gold = more everything.

To choose one though, I'd have to go with France, because I used them for most of my next level stabs.

Hey, varwnos, what is the border graphics mod you are using?

Like my country man before me:
PORTUGAL!!!

But all trait are OK by me!!!

I like England beacause there there comercial trate works wonders on a huge map while under a Democracey. I like the Mayans beacause there leader is called Smoke Jaguar and thats good enough for me.

Persia is undoubtedly one of the strongest civs in the largest variety of conditions. But I don't really consider them a "favorite" over any others. Ultimately, I don't much care which civ I play - it's the interaction of that civ with the map and opponents that makes for all the fun. If I had to pick a fave I guess it would be Japan because I think that Samurai are cool, as well as being generally awesome, totally versatile units at the time they appear and long-lasting to boot.
