Forgive me if this is somewhere else, but a search of the threads turned up nothing.

What is your favorite unique building?

I personally like the Zulu's Ikhanda(barracks). -20% maintenance cost is quite helpful in the early game. Also, the Arabian Madrassa(library) is nice with the ability to make to 2 priests and 2 scientists.

I would like to hear what everyone else thinks.

I liked Inca's Terrace (replaces Granary, gives +2 culture). 2 extra culture for a building I usually built first anyway was like a mini Creative trait. I passed on an early religion and Stonehenge and used that to expand borders early. Plus conquered cities with Granarys become Terraces, so they expand their borders automatically as well.

Mongolia's Ger (replaces Stable) gives a very nice boost for mounted units and works well with their unique unit (horse archer).

Tukogawa seems to get the short end of the stick, one that replaces coal plant? I've never built those they're too unhealthy.

Egypt's obelisks are great. With a stonehenge/oracle/obelisk start, you can generate early great prophets. Founding and spreading religions can generate a lot of gold.

So far, I like the Incan Terrace and the Ottoman Hammam the best.

The Zulu Ikhanda does look great on paper, however. I just haven't personally developed any good strategies yet for playing as Shaka and really leveraging the Ikhanda (and Impi).

I also found the Mali Mint to be disappointing compared to what I thought I would get out of it.

I second Ikhanda and Hammam. Didn't play Inca yet in Warlords, but I guess the terrace could be good for a cultural victory, once it is around for a thousand years the culture will double.
I also like the greek Odeon. +1 Happines and +3 culture is nice, and in the late game it gets better with hit singles, the French Salon is very good with Representation, and the Mali Mint gives you a nice wealth boost in all your cities and comes pretty early.

Ikhanda and Terrace (not just good for cultural but just getting territory quickly with one vital building) are my favorites. And sometimes the Sacrificial Altar can be really helpful.
The Hammam is also one of the best. Larger cities are always welcome and working 2 more tiles (like cottages) can make a huge difference. Though it can be a PITA to build in commerce cities early.

The terrace is also a powerful building if it survivies when you capture a city. That +2 immediate culture when the revolt ends can go a long way.

I don't want to get too excited about the Ikhanda or Hammam else they will end up nerfing them in the next patch. ;)

the viking building for the lighthouse that gives ALL NAVAL UNITS the extra movement point can rock the world. just build 2 caravels to go in opposite directions to get the +1 movement, and keep all the beserkers and upgraded beserkers, and u can strike any costal city quickly and almost with impunity

:D

I don't think they're that far above the others. Cothon, Obelisk, Stock Exchange, Ger, Seowon, Citadel and Madrassa are all pretty good. Before they nerf some, I'd rather see others buffed, like Shale Plant, Apothecary (!) and Dun (!!). In fact that covers my opinion on almost all UBs.

Perhaps, I could humbly direct some of you to the link in my sig and that might change your opinions about some of the UBs. I personally like the Terrace because its cool and I think the Cothon is pretty wicked. I have yet to use the Assembly Plant and Hammam much more in the future, as I haven't played much as those civs, but I have really been turning on to the Odeon as of late. As I like cultural games a lot of the time, the Pavilion and Madrassa can be fun. In fact, I think I will play a game as China right now. :D

If only Navies had a real purpose in the game I would be lined up right behind you. Don't get me wrong, I love the Vikes (ever since the Bud Grant//Joe Capp days ;)), but I can't recall ever seeing a strong navy be a deciding factor in any games I've played.

That being said, Ragnar sits atop my unpatched Warlords Hall of Fame with a Conquest victory. And it was on a Pangea map. Go figure.

this is in the too easy category, but forum, especially after the CS slinger.

the hammam and terrace are close seconds

Somehow, I like the Shale Plant of the Japanese since it does not require any coal to run. Most of the time, I am oftenly not near any source of coal or I am on a map without a source of coal.

Odeon and Forum -
Forum: only UB that increases GPPs, and by full 1/4 at that. 25% more GPs I find to be far more helpful than an extra 10 or 15% money or research, whether its a SE or CE.

Odeon: does absolutely everything. +3 can make quite a difference in peaceful border wars. One extra :) early, one extra :) late-game, and all in the culture slider :) cranker that's often skipped. Combine this with theaters, and Alex can have very long wars. When his WW starts to reach city caps, it means opponents WW has already reached highly debilitating levels.
