The empire of my current game spreads over more than one continent. I have founded some religions and cooperatives. Also I let build my workers the network automatically. When available I started to connect the continents with tunnels. Now the problem. If I move any of the named units manually they can pass the tunnels. But they won't go through them when automated. Means no networking worker ("N"-key) and no spreading missionary or executive ("R"-key).
The workers stay on the continent where they are and there they build and build and build... The executives I can find in the cities with that waiting symbol in the icon (sand glass).

Sorry if it's wrong here. I didn't know where to post it.

This is a mere AI problem that Firaxis didn't think twice about. The land unit's AI didn't think to cross water by itself to spread and build.

Actually, I think it is due to an AND patch.

I know that in previous versions when tunnels were first placed in AND, workers would automatically build rail-roads on tunnels when automated. And since railroads cannot allow land movement on sea tiles, this completely negated the purpose of tunnels (and also costed several hundred gold to build the railroad AND the tunnel again).

Obviously, the 'fix' was to prevent all automated movement on tunnels. So in short, the fact that automation doesn't work on your tunnels is a good thing, as it saves you gold.

Pity that automation doesn't work *through* tunnels, however... that is slightly annoying.
