Well, after many tries I got it done. Not until 1968 but who's complaining.
My strategy was to go straight for Democracy and Statue of Liberty so I could switch to Communism early and Fanatacism as soon as everyone turned against me.
The highest military tech we got to was Tactics. But that was at the very end so all but one civ was taken out at Leadership. I had everyone bottled up pretty good so tech advances went really slow (I got most of mine through GL).
Map size was normal. All my other games had been played on large maps but that just seems to be too much ground to try and cover.
Overall, the only wonders I built were Pyramids, Mikes, and Statue of Liberty. As soon as I hit Democracy I switched to greed mode, letting GL get techs and taking as much money as I could until the end of the game. By the 1900's I could pretty much bride at will (except for those darn Democracies).
Well, I finally feel a sense of accomplishment. Maybe I can take a break now...nah!
