Hello,

I've been playing civilization since Civ III and was a huge fan of Civ 5. I recently purchased civ 6 and the expansions and was super pumped to give it a shot. I've got to say its different but for the most part in a good way. The districts mechanic especially is great as well as the throwback to unit stacking and added depth to great people to name a few changes. Anyway, I just finished my first full 380 turn game on prince as Queen Amanitore of Nubia and here's my feedback for improvement on the game. If there's a specific thread for this let me know and I can copy and paste this there, I'm new to these forums.

Biggest Complaint: The User interface
While the user interface does have some new additions I like, like the promotions tree for units, great works tab and others, more often than I'd like I found myself staring at the screen wondering what is going on right now lol. Specifics include:

Trader Symbols: I think it would help a lot if trader symbols couldn't be seen once their route is chosen like in Civ 5 I believe. I had 8 or so trade routes going from my capital at one point and when dimmed the trader symbols look very similar to my fortified units and slept great generals etc. I found my capital very messy for most of the game because of this and I think getting rid of trader symbols once the route was chosen would do a lot to fix this since once the route is chosen you can't change it for whatever number of turns anyway.

Contrast:
This is more general and I'll check my graphics options for this but I think some more contrast/definition for between tiles and in general would help. If I didn't have the resource icons on I think I would have a hard time noticing some resources.

Rumors: I like this idea of rumors, historically its cool and it makes establishing better delegation more important. That being said I felt like some of the rumors were really not worth being on the screen at all, like on turn 340 for example it was telling me that my Norway neighbor had built a granary in one of his cities. I guess it tells me he sucks but it didn't seem worthy of being a Rumor lol

Notifications: In civ 5 in particular the notifications on the right hand side were very evident. Yellow for production, blue for research and relatively large and noticeable symbols for any trades that ended, wars being declared, unit promotions, etc. In civ 6 through I like the symbols themselves, the notifications are pretty small and all the same color so I found myself missing promotions and not evening noticing I was no longer the Suzerain of some city states.

Policy cards:
I liked the civics and policy cards but maybe a better way to sort them would help. I found myself reading through 15+ military and 15+ economic policy cards just trying to figure out whats what. Maybe sort them by affects faith, affects science, affects gold, misc etc etc

Second complaint: AI
Though I can't say much about the AI as someone who played on prince and have played Civilization games for a while (aka it was no biggie lol) I noticed a couple things in particular

City State units:
Man oh man did they spam their units out. My neighbor Norway declared war on me around turn 50 but all I did was ally with the industrial city state brussels who was next to both of us and they sent 15 units straight at norway and razed one of his cities and he sued for peace. I like the idea of city states having a decent military but 15 units that early is too much

Religious wars: My neighbor Norway had 8 inquisitors on my borders at one point and I only had one apostle. Point being if the AI Norway had better religious war intuition/decision making capabilities and just got like 3 apostles instead I would have been in serious religious trouble.

Smaller complaint:

Naturalist:
It could be because I just didn't have the right tiles but it seemed awfully hard/complicated to meet the requirements for a natural park. Mountains and national wonders I get but you cant get the naturalist till later in the game and it requires unimproved tiles which I didn't have many of and after having to google it the shape required seemed oddly specific (a vertical but not horizontal diamond)

So I think that's about all I've got for my first impressions. All in all a great game that I look forward to playing more that could just use a bit of user interface changes and some AI tweaks
