The ranking system for trade routes (imports vs exports) in the demographics screen is the wrong way round. Being ranked 8th means you've actually got the best income from trade compared to the income your giving to other civs through trade. Clearly if this is the case, you should be ranked 1st! The way it is, is counter-intuitive and it would superb if this little idiosyncracy could be fixed.

Does anyone have a code work around for this?

I'm looking at a game I won a diplomatic victory as the Netherlands (financial) where I owned half the world and population and had open boarders with everyone (so I had everything going for me), I was importing 1214 gold and exporting 409 and was in first. The eight place player was importing 0 and exporting 128 gold. A profit of 805 being first and a loss of 128 seems like the right order to me.

Not so. You're misinterpreting the demographics - or rather the way they're currently represented is misleading you. This is foreign trade and given that you own half the world, your cities are actually providing more foreign trade for other civs than you're receiving.

In the example above, you're actually making 409 commerce from trade routes with other civs and you're giving a whopping 1214 commerce to other civs through trade. The person in last place is making 128 commerce and giving none. They, therefore, have the best ratio.

Wow, I was 100% sure that you were completely full of crap, but I loaded up a game where I had very little trade (11/4) and added it up manually by looking at each city of mine and my only trading partner. I was getting only 4 commerce and my vassal was getting 11. It has me in first and my vassal in last when clearly they are profiting the most.
This is a oversight long oversighted. We must alert the proper authorities! Better yet, we should alert someone who will do something about it. To the Unofficial BTS 3.13 patch thread!

Actually they probably have the worst ratio and that calculation is correct, because if a player has 0 as either imports or exports, the ratio defaults to 1 (you cannot divide by zero; and 0 divided by any number = 0)

So I think the ratio calculation is still correct in this example. The demo screen ranks by best ratio so if the player or any other AI had a ratio better than 1, he would be ranked higher.
