The only way to download an online Flash movie onto your harddrive is if the maker puts it in a specific winzip file or something where you can download the actual file. It's rather unfortunate because my harddrive was reformatted a few months back because of a very deadly virus, and now the flash movies I made only exist at the Geocities site.
Very rarely will there be a direct link to a .swf file. This is because in doing so, everything on the stage is shown, not just what is viewing rectangle. It's kind of hard to explain, but the best analogy would be watching a play without the back curtain so that the audience can see everything going on the backstage as well.
If you're somewhat comfortable with HTML, you can look at the page source for the page containing the flash movie, find the URL of it, and then do what Quentin suggested.
