Well, 8 players playing for two years should make a good experience.
I have played a number of epics that took more than a couple of years, and they were fun.

However, realistically speaking, the odds are - on the basis of past experience - that one or more will drop out along the way.

That's a shame, but if we retire the first couple of people to do this, then the game will simply speed up for the remaining players.
And people seem to remain more committed to games that have momentum...
