Football Manager 2005 was released last Thursday, yet there are no threads about it here...

Why not? Hasn't anybody got it yet? Why not?

It's an improvement over previous CM games, and I especially like the interaction and relations with other managers. Sometimes its a bit rigid and you can't really say what you like, but it works okay and it's now easy to get a 20 rating on working with the media.

The highlights are slightly improved, as you'd expect. The matches themselves though, I think are a bit harder. I've only played one game, and that was basically just to get to grips with it though. I'm sure in my next game I'll be able to change that around...Cardiff for the European Cup?

Scouts and coaches are still useless. Well, scouts reveal hidden attributes, but they're recommendations are still basically rubbish. Training is still a bit of a mystery. Anybody with any good info/resources/explanations regarding it? For some players it can work wonders, but despite the bars breaking down the effects of your schedule on individual attributes (attack/defense/fitness etc.) there seems to be far too much trial and error.

I think they've changed the work permit system. I'm sure I've read that somewhere and I was able to sign Freddy Adu immediately at the beginning of my game.

Also, the opposition always scores too many 25 yarders! (For my liking anyway!).

That all probably doesn't sound too positive, but it's a great game, honestly. You should already know that, but since nobody has started a thread about it yet...

Haven't gotten around to playing it... Didn't enjoy the last CM as I thought I would so I guess I'll get this eventually but I'm not in a rush. :\

:(

What was wrong with the last CM?

Anyway, this is the first in a new series, even better than CM...

And well, you should buy it just for the new database...I always do.

I guess I will get the new one for christmas...

I don't know really, it just wasn't different enough to CM4 and that it had certain unbeatable tactics which started to ruin the game for me as I ended up getting a similar tactic that worked for one team although not others but it still felt a bit like I was cheating.

I think thoes tactics were a problem, and also a big pool of incredibly talented foreigners available for, and expecting wages of, next to nothing. I don't know if that's still the case in FM, haven't played it enough yet...

About the tactics, I did see somebody had gone 78 league games unbeaten with Benfica...not the strongest league, but still, 78 games...

I Played the Demo and i didnt really get on with it but i will poberbly try it in the future maybe with some of the patches but i shall be playing 03-04 for a while more

Why?? I don't understand all these negative comments about FM...And how can you play CM03/04 when FM is out? It doesn't make sense... :crazyeye:

Which sometimes just means a different name and a few extra features which doesn't always match up to the price.

I just fired it up after purchasing it. I like the interface (though its hard to adapt), but there are too many small annoying things in the game. Looks a bit rushed :(

I'll probably wait and get Football Manager 2006 (or maybe the new CM).

I say this every year, odds are I'll have it by christmas...

Why would you get the new CM? (It has a different game engine and everything).

Besides, I think there's a patch out for FM now.

I assume there are already several patches... Yep FM v5.0.2 Patch.

Still not got it.:D

I have. The media option is interesting but I've been using almost every game whilst the AI doesn't seem to be using as much. A bit annoyed at the moment since things were going well until Howard had to go to some American cup and Carroll just isn't putting in decent performances so suddenly Arsenal have caught up. Interesting to see Chelsea just above the relegation zone.

One thing I've just noticed is that everyone plays the same 4-5-1 strategy against me it seems. I'm playing 4-0-2-3-1 so my recent tactical change is to man mark their lone striker. Seemed to work against Liverpool as Cisse barely featured in the game when I played them.
