The defense bonus for a fortress is +50%. Is this added to another defensive bonus? For example: can I build a fortress on a mountain and get a 100% bonus?

Bonuses are cumulative. So yes a fortress on a mtn. is 150% (100% for the mtns. and 50% for the fortress).
