In my quest to get Civ V working on my PC I discovered my Graphics Card was no good....lots of the information provided on here and other sites was just confusing and some conflicting, so here's a tried and tested review of a sub £30 graphics card:
"It works!"
I've installed (very easy, even for me) the below card from PC World (I'm sure you can get it at other good retailers) and fired up Civ V and it works a treat...no issues at all despite some people saying it won't run.
ASUS AMD Radeon HD EAH5450 SILENT/DI/512MD2 (LP) PCI-E Graphics Card - 512MB
It also has a "low profile bracket" if you have a slim desktop not big tower. It runs on 300W power so you don't need a high spec PC and it has it's own CD for the software.
I'm sure it's not for hard-core gamers who want graphics hungry games, but for me (I play Civ and that's it) it's perfect!
Hope this helps anyone in the same predicament as me.
