Invisionfree is probably your best bet.

There is a php-free one, but I don't know what the website is. You could probably google it....

Your making a bad choice...

One of the selling points for BBFree is that fact that they let you upload skins. Invisionfree not at all. Also you get unlimited upload space at BBFree not so at Invision.
 
@Dabomb: I'd remove that before I get warned for advertising if I were you.

Also, don't listen to vbraun. He tried to get GCF to convert to BBFree, but about two months later, the whole site (BBFree, that is) collapsed and all data was lost. Luckily, we didn't listen to him :p.

The features are worth any kind of risk. (even though you might have the same promblem with invisionfree)
 
Incidentally, a smart way to get a forum started up is to outsource all the technicalities to a techie-type person, if you aren't too good at those yourself.

And how come the ad shows up in this post and not the others?
 
No, you can advertise in your sig. Read the rules I quoted again.

But putting a post up and saying "Hey, come to my site and join" is against the rules.
 
But it's not in my sig anymore. I only see it in this post and the last one above, since the time you did something to it...

Also @Turner, I was just trying to say that I got one before people kept giving options to me, and decided to throw in the address with it. I didn't know it was against the rules.
 
I don't know if you understand me. Look at my post at the top of this page. Do you see the link? I can't, and on another post of mine at another thread I can't see it either. It seems to only appear from posts I make from now on, which is only like 3 posts, bad advertising.
 
Probably you've not enabled signatures for your earlier posts...

Otherwise it's a vB 3.5 thingie...
 
:shrug: Dunno. There is an option to not show your sig when you reply. But the mods don't have the ability to suppress a sig for a single post. I think....

Gonna have to test that.

Edit: We can suppres a sig for a single post, but the bottom will show the "Last edited by...." tag.
