My problem is that every time I try to open civilization IV, it will generally get past the loading and stuff and the second the physical game opens and right before the first logo-video starts to play, the game freezes and doesn't move. At this point I can't see my mouse, or hear anything on the speakers. The only way out of it is to manually restart my computer.
Note - If I sit there for like five minutes I can hear strange beeping sounds from the speakers, thats about it.
I have updated and at one point I did have the harkonnen patch, but I've since gotten rid of it.
The crashes also started only recently, it wasn't always like this.
EDIT - I've since reinstalled, and it's still happening. I haven't changed any hardware or installed anything huge or new. It did work the first time after I removed the Harkonnen patch.
