While the general Hall of Fame is an ongoing competition, we like to run time-definite competitions between updates that we call Gauntlets. Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

(*) Please read the >> HOF rules << BEFORE playing!

Settings:
  • Expansion: Brave New World
  • Victory Condition: Culture (though all victory conditions must be enabled)
  • Difficulty: Prince
  • Map Size: Large
  • Map Type: Inland Sea
  • Speed: Standard
  • Leader: Egypt (Ramesses II)
  • Opponents: Any
  • Version: SV8
  • Date: Tuesday 4th December 2018 to Friday 4th January 2019
The earliest finish date wins, with score as a tiebreaker.

Notes to self:

Things to figure out:
1 How to unsticky prior gauntlet threads.
2 How to sticky new gauntlet threads.
3 How to include that gloved-fist image - complete with text-wrapping - when starting a new thread.
4 Get some answers from Australia about the wrinkles I encountered.

Things to point out:
1 Gauntlet ends on a Friday, not over the weekend
2 Please post ideas for new games in Gauntlet Suggestions thread
3 Based on suggestions in Gauntlet Suggestions thread, was gonna set up an OCC game. OCC ain't a map-type.
4 If answers arrive from Australia soon, there might be a Major Gauntlet. Otherwise, there might not be a Major Gauntlet 'til next go-round.

good work - for occ it comes up listed as requirement in previous gauntlets ie: raging barbs, one city challenge
we'll be looking forward to the

Thanks for this, helped me think through it again, and I'm pretty sure I have the solution. I knew OCC isn't a type of map, but (the way the gauntlet scoring is automated) it's the only place I could imagine it would show up in the scoring table. But any "requirements" DO show in the submission's table, so I can simply cross-check the two tables.

Thanks for that, @vadalaz. It has SV8 where I actually entered data, so there must be another field I need to edit. I'll check it out.

I have gotten two games in, one Sacred Sites victory and one Greek Liberation Victory. The Sacred Sites win was five turns faster, and a heck of a lot less intense without all the unit movement. Hotel/Wonder tourism will just not compete on this setting.

This is very enjoyable for those liking Domination or Religion-based games - mainly due to war chariots... simply amazing, with no need for horses! For the Sacred Sites game, Burial Tombs are sooo good, so this gauntlet is definitely a fun one to play.

Good luck to all those giving this one a try!

Thought they would be up last weekend, @Noble Zarkon must have had something come up.
