Standard Hall of Fame rules (*) still apply, but any games meeting the settings will be counted towards the Gauntlet.

(*) Please read the >> HOF rules << BEFORE playing!

Submitted a "normal" culture game (no sacred sites) with a turn 179 win. Not very spectacular or optimized in any way, thought I was gonna need the Internet but suddenly I was "influential in 8 turns" or less with everyone much earlier than I thought.

Tried for a Sacred Sites strategy twice but was completely unsuccessful. First time was going pretty decently with Kailash on my island, but after having filled out tradition and Piety I realized someone else already took Sacred Sites. Second time I went for 2 points in Liberty and then Piety and got Sacred Sites, but my island was pretty crappy and game was slow in general. Only 2 luxuries on the island so spent a lot of turns unhappy and unable to grow. Tried to go crazy with settling cities on every Island and buying Mosque+Pagoda but other civs were already running away with culture and I got so unhappy that 5 barbarians spawned and pillaged all my tiles :(

Tradition or liberty slow down the filling piety.

It does yes, but I figured since you need to get Caravels to meet the other players anyway I wasn't in a huge hurry to get the Sacred Sites tenet. Maybe it's better to go Piety right away though, dunno.

Decided to do a couple of extra attempts and you were right. Assuming you find a map where you can meet everyone without caravels, it's much better to go full Piety. I did not consider that using the free Great Prophet from finisher to enhance saves a lot of time.

Unfortunately I was still screwed over badly by the AIs, as they managed to pick up all the remaining faith buildings before I could enhance. Winning with just 1 per city became a slow unhappy grind and one player was up to 3200 culture before I caught him. Turn 146 win, with another faith building it would be 30-40 turns faster probably. There's also the constant problem that I have never found a starting Island with more than 2 unique luxuries. The early game is so rough when you can't even grow your 3 cities because of happiness issues.
