Ok this is rather strange.
When I first bought the game and had graphics on high the game would frequently cause my monitor to black out after a period of freezing. The only way I could fix this was to put my entire computer into sleep mode and take it out but as soon as I maximized the game from the taskbar it once again blacked out.
Everything about the game up to actually playing it worked fine consistently, but with alarming frequency it did this, especially at reloading saved games.
I then decided to simply turn the graphics down to the lowest. The game runs rather fine for the Greeks. It sometimes blacks out but minimizing the game and maximizing again fixes it without needing to sleep mode my computer.
But, whenever I try to start a game with any other civ except the Greeks, like the Americans, Romans, Egyptians, or British, the game will not load at all. It will get as far as briefing me on my civ and sending me to the map and then blacking out.
Minimizing doesn't fix it, only sleep mode turns my monitor back on but then I am unable to play the game.
Any advice or solutions on how to fix this?
If it helps, the Greeks were the first civ I ever tried to play as with the graphics high.
