Game keeps minimizing

As I am playing, the game keeps minimizing on me. I can get back into it fine, it is just becoming an annoyance. It occurs every 15 minutes or so.

Any thoughts?

this sounds like some other program tries to get your attention - are you running anything else while playing?

that is what I was thinking. And no programs that I know of. I will have to kill as much as I can and see if that does it.

do that - are there any programs running in the background (antivir/firewall and the like?)

I am running McAfee and Vista is my OS. I run civ4 with no other apps and still it minimizes every so often.

Could the antivirus be the problem?

this could be the case - mcafee sometimes acts up... try to disconnect from the internet and then run the game with mcafee disabled...

I disconnect from the internet, still it minimizes. I cannot disable mcafee because it is managed by Group Policy. This is my work laptop. I am in IT, but my boss manages the Group Policies.

I can run the game in window mode without any issues. Any other thoughts on what it could be besides mcafee? I may try running it on another system to make sure if it is something else or not.

googleing this issue does point to some adware/spyware stuff sometimes doing things like this - did you scan your computer for any such malware recently?
Apart from that: try running it on another machine - I am pretty sure this is not normal behavior...

I thought the same, ran some scans, but will run them again. I felt it was a spyware thing maybe.

Will let ya know if I find anything else. I appreciate the help.
