Game loading, then hanging

When I load the game, it shows loading, then displays the globe plus logo.I click around, logo disapperas, animation of globe continues and music plays but nothing else happens. Just installed game and am playing at recommended spec. according to my dxdiag. What is going wrong?

edit: welcome movie, doesn't play + 2k games logo doesn't either.

Have you patched the game recently and/or installed new mods? Clearing the civ4 cache might help. If not, uninstall the game, manually erase all leftover folders, reinstall, apply the latest patch.

I susspect your drivers are for your video card are out of date. Try updating them from manufacturers website an that should do the trick.
