Since there are questions I have for the RepGame, I decided to start a FAQ.

I downloaded the rules document, but a few things confused me more than others:

1)What's with the GPT regarding various tiles?

2) does every team follow those guidelines for what their consitution is? For the most part I liked how the government is set up, but is it required each team has those rules?

3) The number of rules regarding the international community seemed pretty serious. How much is up to each nation?

While I like how it is set up, it seems a few things are not as up to the RepGame leaders as I believe they should be. Was my reading comprehension off or is this game going to follow rather strict guidelines (which is fine, I just wanna be clear).

This thread has the rules to download.

Bump:rolleyes:

It's a bunch of teams consisting of multiple people with differant political jobs (foreign advisor, Prime Minister, &c.) all in one PBEM game.

1)What's with the GPT regarding various tiles?

That's still something in the works... Basically, each tile has a fixed value, and you also earn gold to buy other tiles. But, tiles can come into control or conflict from other civs.

2) does every team follow those guidelines for what their consitution is? For the most part I liked how the government is set up, but is it required each team has those rules?

It's pretty much a standard, like 1 huge nation, but each civ (or "province") is almost like their own independant city-state.

3) The number of rules regarding the international community seemed pretty serious. How much is up to each nation?

Nations could add rules (vote on them) to the UN. The UN adds another twist to the game.

chief i think that it should be up to the teams to make thier own government as long as is feesable

hears *you say you want a revolution* in the background

MUWAHAHAHAHA

I think, Chieftess, what you had in mind compared to what others had in mind is somewhat differant. Like each team is one confederate state in a big republic (hence the same constitution for all), plus a couple of rouge nations? Or something along those lines that interconnects the teams more strongly. I have not played in the Demogame, but the gpt for each pice of land sounds like something each individual in the Demogame might have, with imaginary but kept track of wealth for their own subgame politics.

So as you can see I'm not too clear on some of this stuff. A Uranium on a mountain by a river is 15 gpt. However, that money is not going towards the treasury ingame--only what, 6 commerce (roaded in a representitive gorvernment) goes to the empire.

So although I'm confused about it, the more I type it the cooler it sounds. (You can only tax so much capitol out of a successful cattle farmer--say 3 commerce if by a river, so he'd get the 7 rest for himself, or he'd get all 10 and the governent makes an additional 3).

As for various constitutions, I believe if we are truly to be seperate nations, it should (though doesn't have to be if you truly feel possessive about this--I know I would if I came up with this) up to each nation to decide their own government, as long as it works 'feesable' as Spacetrvler said. However, like what I believe he also meant was that our government could change with each revolution or something.

Currently, Spacetrvler is Emperor. We're despotic so that makes sense. However, he could soon be Consul or Prime Minister or whatever, when we become republican. Or he could stay Emperor. Or he is Prime Minister for a month because that's how it's going to be no matter what(?).

I know this is a lot, but I'd like to know so I can play this game to it's fullest.

The tile thing is more of an interactive RPG type game that's optional, but you can play it "to pass the time". You'll be able to select tiles like this:

TILESAMP.jpg

The initials are the abbriviation of player names (I just picked abitrary ones) that own the tiles. I don't have a full economic system worked out, buy you can buy/sell tiles, and buy new tiles after each round of play. (since your gold accumulates each round). The little town symbol (I know, I'm a bad artist) shows where the town or city is in the game.

In the tiles you own, you can have any improvement, or tech related feature that's part of that city. (i.e., if the city has a temple, you can put a temple within that city radius).

I hope that answered your question... :)

Thanks, that definitley gives me a much better idea about the tiles, but my main question lies within the 2nd part of the 7th post on this thread. It's quite a long rant but because right now the RepGame is quite important, I'd really like to know. I guess I can summerize what I had written up there:

1)You had in the rules what our governments should be like. Is that a guideline or is that absolute?
2)Are we supposed to be seperate nations, like I initially thought, or seperate states in one republic, like you seemed to hint at with the city-state comment?

1 - Yes, it's a guideline. I'll make the posistions a bit more flexible (such as, you can pick from any of them, or have a full team).

2 - It's a little bit of both. They're more like independant city states that can join to form a nation, or go out on their own. I wanted to make it like this so that civil wars could play a bigger part in the game. (kind of bringing back a feature from Civ2).

Chieftess, thank you SO much. Your plan is perfect! :)

Ok here's the next Frequently asked question: Are people abandoning this game?

Would the game be more popular if it wasn't cluttered with other PBEM games around it?

You know, I was about to scroll down and post another Freaquently asked Question about how this game is not going as fast as it should, and It seems I already did trhat 28 days ago!

hullo all

hey hygro, it seems the game is going quite slow.
i wanted to read the rules before i join but (again) i can't find them...
...and i think yes, the game of republic threads being surronded with oh so many pbem threads makes it a pain to find something in the forum :)

if the game is up, i'm in :) somewhere

hey hygro

i happened to find them before that :)
I'm still moving around slowly on the forums.

is it my impression or the game of republic is completely stopped ? a shame, because just now i have the time to play and i was thinking about starting :)
if it's up... i wanna be in it :D

well... i wanna know if chieftess knows anything about the game being up or not ?

thanks then :)

currently it's... on hold till further notice it seems... but if I see renewed interest in my User CP subscribed threads thing, then I'll be back right away.
