Game randomly quits on laptop

I installed civ IV on my Dell Inspiron e1505. There are no known compatiblity problems. However, anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes into a game, it freezes and quits several seconds later. There is no explanation given. Any help would be very appreciated!

Check for an entry in the event viewer logs (start > run > eventvwr.msc ) at the time your game stops. Post your dxdiag.txt to this thread, as well as any notes from the event viewer. Perhaps someone will see something amiss.

Hey, I have the same type of laptop and have also had the same problem under certain circumstances. Are you running any other programs while playing civ? When I play I tend to run Itunes to listen to music and the game will randomly crash every once in a while. However, when I don't run any extra programs the game works fine so I don't know what to tell you if you dont have anything else running.

My only other suggestion would be to reduce the graphics settings, that always seems to help.

No, I don't run any other programs, and changing the graphics settings didn't work. However it does appear that I solved the problem by downloading the latest update. Thanks anyway!
