First of all I would like to say thanks to all those who maintain this community.
It is one of the primary reasons i love the civ series. loads to add on and read which makes purchasing a civ game a bargain. I used to play civ 3 (never got bored) but have recently moved to civ 4 and i am having one major problem that is going to drive me insane.
after starting civ 4 and playing a few turns the pc just simply restarts.
i have the latest ati drivers as i have read elsewhere here that it may be a problem and have cleaned up any extra useless gunk on my pc as well as closing down any little programs running in the background. and also turned down the graphics settings in civ to their lowest. im also virus free and other games run fine (such as AOE 3). all with no luck
I am playing civ on my notebook which is capable of playing games that are more demanding spec wise than civ 4.
the only thing i can think of is over heating as it does run a little hot (aoe3 runs hotter though). would like to see if it could be another issue though as this is not such a consistant theory
. i have played in very cold areas and still got the same results. it doesnt happen every time either, just most of the time and i'm in love with this game.
thanks a lot and keep up the good work.
ADDED: i upped the pagefile size yesterday too after a suggestion on these fora too
