I have a few games in the HOF now and was interested to find your score (and game score) is no longer modified by difficulty level, and still does not appear to be modified by when you achieve certain victories. It may or may not be modified by what victory type you achieve...not yet sure of that.

Here are the relevant portions of entries:
1) Elizabeth of England, Conquest Loss on Prince, Score 0, Game Score 167, loss 760 AD.
2) Sam of Spain, Time Victory on Chieftain, Score 2284, Game Score 3801, victory 2050 AD (of course)
3) Sampolean of France, Space Race victory on Warlord, Score 3104, Game Score 3203, victory 2030 AD.
4) Samadin of Arabia, Diplo victory on Settler, Score 3769, Game Score 2843, victory in 1924 AD.

How come a Time victory on Chieftain is my highest score?! I had a space race on Warlord that had a higher base score by nearly 1000 points, and it wasn't a time victory, and yet I ended up with a much lower Game Score. I am so confused! Doesn't type of victory, time, and difficulty weigh in as a significant factor when determining game score? Shouldn't a time victory get no modification (or a very slight modification) relative to the others?

Shouldn't my noble space race win be worth more than my warlord space race win? The scores are really messed up. It's only logical that you get rewarded for more difficult tasks. Playing settler on a tiny map shouldn't be the way to an awesome score.

I think the scores are unfairly weighted too; you are serious disadvantaged the longer your game goes on for, irrespective of victory condition, it seems.

I had some similar scores to you, ButSam (and got my rear end kicked the same as you on GoTM02, hehe!), but just recently have managed to get some very high scores by playing on a Duel map (Noble, 1 opponent) and quickly going in for the kill... the early finishes definitely raised my game scores enormously.

The name of the game seems to be to finish as early as you can, you don't get rewarded for building a hugely successful civ and finishing in 2000AD+ it seems.

Very strange indeed; I hope this is something they will look at for the patch? Each victory type could be assigned a "median" victory date based on the average of several plays, and dependent upon map size; scores could be adjusted up or down based on your victory date versus median victory date. The entire score should be modified by a certain % based on difficulty...ie, Noble is 100% of score, and it goes up or down in 20% increments from there (as a shot from the hip--to be refined by people who have played much more--like Firaxis' game testers).

In English, let's say the median victory date for Firaxis' playtesters for a space race victory on a Standard map is at turn 380, and you finish at turn 421 (out of 455 total turns each time). Then your score is modified by 380/421 * Score.

But let's say the median victory date for Firaxis' playtesters for a conquest victory on a Duel map is at turn 95, and you finish a conquest at turn 110. Then your score is modified by 95 / 110 * Score.

Of course, that would further be modified by difficulty level. And notice I said the game would store the MEDIAN, not the MEAN (AVERAGE), so one abnormally early victory would not skew results. :)

So there's my 2 cents. Maybe I should drive up to the other side of Baltimore and whip Firaxis into shape ;) lol Just kidding; they put together an absolutely wonderful (and addictive) game; only some admittedly very minor gripes with it like this Hall of Fame. Still would be nice to have it corrected.
