Game speed in multiplayer

I've noticed the time moves at teh same speed but research and building takes WAY longer, is this normal?

Game Speed (in the first tab) refers to the things you mention like research, building, worker actions, etc. If you want to change the turn timer (how many seconds you have to perform your actions per turn), you will find it in the "Multiplayer" tab.
