game won't load?

Dear all,
I am currently trying to play Civ4 on my PC but the game won't load. No error messages come up...just nothing. It is as if I hadn't even attempted to load it. I can't seem to work out why this is but would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction. Is it maybe because I don't have a graphics card [unsure???]. I have attached my dxdiag report. Thanks a lot!

Install the latest patch (http://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/patch/). Your system definitely isn't great but it should manage more...

Sorry for the delay in my reply. I had installed the patch previously and unfortunately there was no change. Do you have any other suggestions I could try?

Some have had success but uninstalling CD burning software. The general conclusion is that the game's copy protection "hiccups" with some optical drives and programs.
