game won't start - 12/22 patch feature?

It worked fine until today.

I don't see any patch downloading in Steam. 8 Mb or otherwise...

CivilizationV.exe was deleted from CivV's SteamApps folder. Clicking Launcher.exe doesn't help either.

Any ideas?

Yep. I have the same problem. No Civ V launch now. Sigh... I wonder what they f***** up this time...

Civ V is a really, really scary story

(Unless it coincidentally fixed itself at the same time,) I managed to force the game to update by rightclicking on the game in the Steam Library and changing the preferred language in the game's properties.

If I don't post here again then it worked and I'm happily playing my Civ.

Worked for me too thanks! (changed language to french, let steam redownload the exe, change back to english).

Oh joy, patches that 'fix' the game by deleting the main executable file...

Switched to German and back to English and everythings works as usual.
Nice work after a patch update and the game just don't work properly anymore. What did they patched anyway? I really hate Steam!

I got into Steam>Game List>Chose CiV>Properties>Language>French>Started game but same problem, it won't load.
When I chose another language Steam did not update it in any way. Can I force the update in some way?

I had to reboot my pc, start steam by right clicking and choosing run as administrator, then verify the cache of the game. The main .exe failed to verify and it re-downloaded it. I tried verifying the cache several times, but until I rebooted and did the run as administrator thing it didn't actually install the new file!

So, now it works. It just started after lots of changes in language and starts of steam.
