I'm sure a good deal of you have heard of it. It was created a few years ago by (then) well known memebrs of this message board.

Well, sadly, unless GC gets more members it is doomed to a darl and cruel fate. Forum death.

Please, visit Game Catcher and help us revive what was once a great forum.

Heard of it, registered there, been made fun of over there, and then banned for no reason from there.

Dont have a care in the world about it's fate

...help us revive what was once a great forum.
Wished I could help, though the only problem is that; 1. I am banned overthere and 2. The majority of the posters there hate my guts. If the admin of GC can forgive me, then I would consider helping.

If the admin banned you for no reason, how can they 'forgive you'? Apparently you've done nothing to deserve it.

I never saw the point in forums like Gamecatcher. Not that it's a bad forum, just there's several others like it which are more established.

From what I understood Gamecatcher's main two purposes were making fun of CG and pretending to have a useful purpose other than said mocking. I won't be joining.

That would be totally wrong. I assume your only source was CG? The main purpose was just to be a breakaway from CFC for a particular group of active members at the time. CG wasn't even around when it was set up.

No it was from snooping around about a year or so ago. Oh, and CG's whinning and your group's trolling him on this site didn't help either.

Just to set a few things right (by posting this just now it´s obvious how indifferent I have become to CFC ;)).

1. Gamecatcher was founded in early 2002 by Spycatcher and some of her friends as a new home for her Strategy Gaming Forum hosted as an EZboard before.

2. Many of the original members also frequented CFC, thus more people came from here to join us.

3. GC was oriented on strategy gaming in general, but also other games (unlike CFC, which is concentrating on 1 game/series). Never intended as any competition or whatever, in fact, at its founding there were not really other general gaming "fansites" available at all.

4. We expanded with gaming features like the Starcraft Tournament, our Civ2 MP Democracy Games (being with Poly the first to actually undertake such events) and of course PBEM games.
A bit later (end of the year) joined by Gamecatcher Magazine, our online magazine publishing games reviews, previews, tech articles, etc. with a regular reader base of >1000 per month, SimCity3 and 4 challenges and regions, the joining of the first Civ3 ISDG (after we created and won the first Civ2 MSDG in late fall) and dedicated gaming servers for online games like "Novagaming System NGS".

5. That second year, 2003, was our strongest, with the Magazine, the game server, the PBEMs and the ISDGs running very strong. The size of our forum membership did not really reflect our success, it was a lot better than similar fansites. I guess herein lies a reason for the situation now, we did not concentrate enough on advertising our great content. We had lots of visitors, readers and players, numbering into the thousands of active ones (those visiting us at least once per week). We failed to capitalize on that, one problem being that the majority of our veterans posted only at CFC as well, and we already "grazed" those grounds. But we also liked being a small community. :yeah:

6. 2004 brought some stagnation, mostly visible in the forum. Our veterans started to experience drastic changes of their lives (end of high-school, start of college, end of college or such). Our Magazine writers (mostly WiseAss and I) become too busy with work and college to continue to release monthly as well.
Still going strong in site traffic, but the forum showed the decline more clearly.
And this year we have consolidated at a high traffic level still (mostly people playing AAT, TKI or other games on our gaming servers), but the forum is very slow as our core membership has outgrown or outlived certain live phases.

It was a great time and all who contributed to the site learned a lot and had lots of fun. We are still going and will continue to do so. And we can surely claim a lot more success than >90% of all other gaming fan created sites out there.
:D

You like to talk about democracy games obviously, but your post lacks the part where your team was so quickly defeated by teams CGN and CDZ in the ISDG semi-finals last year. :D I don't know if it had any impact on your forums, and to be honest I don't really care. :p
