Anybody read this book before? Even though its a fictional book, but it gives me a lot of details of the Persian and the Spartans.
In the book, its is richly detailed about wars during the past.
Spartans with their hoptiles versus Persians and their 10,000 immortals.........

Anybody knows any great books to read about war in any eras?

If you happen to speak Dutch, I recommend 'Montyn' by D.A. Kooiman. It's the most harrowing story I've ever read - Montyn was a soldier in WWII trenches, the Baltic Sea, and then in the scant troops at the end of the war. Very intense story from a front-line soldier.

Gisbert Haefs (in German) has written a very impressive two-volume novel on Alexander the Great. The description of the battle of Chaeronea is one of the best passages I've ever read in a novel.
