Running (absolute) latest CivUP and GEM (Beta 3) from github. Huge map, 20 Civs, 30 CS, epic. Upon hitting my first golden age my happiness golden age counter shot up to some ridiculously high number (6+ digits) - though my actual reported happiness stayed the same - and incremented approximately this much each turn (I stopped when it reached 8+ digits) - leading to a perpetually increasing golden age. I used Ingame Editor to check the other Civs, and one (Japan) of the only other two Civs that had hit their first golden age had the same problem - their happiness (reported in the golden age counter only) was insanely high, exhibiting the same problem with an apparently perpetually increasing golden age. This is game breaking because soon every Civ will be in a permanent golden age.

I noticed beforehand that my happiness indicator reported a number that seemed to be +5 higher than my actual happiness (I started seeing the growth penalty at 4 happiness, etc). But I wrote it off down to script oddities as the gold per turn counter shown in diplomacy is always way off the actual one reported by the topbar.

I'm using no other mods that affect happiness.

I hypothesize that this bug is due to the recently re-enabled feature of adding happiness to the next golden age during one.

That could be it Zim; I didn't even know that had been addressed in a quasi-beta3, though I see it now after some digging.

When I give it a go I'll see if I get the same results.

I rolled back to Beta 2 and I still see the same problem; in the lua log I see:

Gold Cul Sci Faith Happy Player Handicap
8 16 41 0 268435457 Catherine AI_HAPPINESS
25 43 68 16 268435471 Pacal AI_HAPPINESS

Upon using IGE to take control of Catherine I see that over a billion happiness has accrued towards her next golden age (which she has been in perpetually for quite a while it seems because she requires almost 30,000 happiness for it). I take her seat with IGE, and I can see all the erroneous happiness comes from a single source: an engineer specialist in a single city Krepost.

When I tried taking Pacal's seat Civ crashed, so I'll try again and see if it's a problem with the Barrack's specialist slot in general or this was just a co-incidence. I checked and Catherine had no other specialist-occupied Kreposts.

This would seem to fit with my prior experiences, as it generally happens as far into games as I imagine I would normally be building barracks in quantity, and have a population large enough for cities to auto-allocate specialists to them.

EDIT: Yep, Pacal had the same thing going on with a Barracks engineering specialist. Pretty good job, it seems.

Hello,

I am playing with Unofficial G&K patch + G&K Enhanced Mod (v2 both) and I get a never-ending golden age bug for the second time. Every turn I get info about golden age and I have some crazy number of happiness toward the golden age. Anyone knows how to solve this problem?

Since ExpiredReign puts it better than I can:

Since the latest patch (commonly called the 'Pitboss' patch) a few months ago, the earlier mods VEM, GEM etc. are now broken. Firaxis changed a few major points that render these mods unusable.

Currently focus is on bringing the Communitas project up to speed for those with the latest expansion. Afterward it may be possible to make the project backward compatible for all previous versions. Vanilla, G&K and now BNW.

So stay tuned, all is not lost.

The bug comes from the specialists. The first one you might get is the engineer from the smithy, and he will produce, when worked, around a billion happiness per turn. That gives you the infinite golden age. But it is not only the smithy engineer, the specialist from the market gives massive amount of something (i remember it as new citizens), and probably other specialists as well. Its game breaking and I have found no way around it

(im on BNW with 3.5.3 mod-pack using window 7)
