Yellow,

I haven't read through all of the threads yet, but here's goes.

It doesn't appear that once a city is built or conquered, that it can be gotten rid of. Settlers and workers are delayed until
the size is 2 or 3, as appropriate. How to disband a city?

The way I do it is by offering it to a computer I am about to declare war on anyway, and then take it back and raze it.

Starve the pop down to 2 and then build a settler but make sure the city has Zero Growth otherwise the settler will stop at 1 untill your city goes up to 3pop

Don't starve them out, that's a waste of good population points. Make settlers and workers to decrease the population. Make sure your food production is shut down though so you don't inadverdently create new population.

but will the city be disbanded this way? or will it just stop at pop of 1?

Posting a reply here to what I've written:

I may be mistaken, but as I have written, even if you have a city size of 1, with no food in the storage, a Worker cannot be built.
The same applies to settlers in a size 2 city. Building a settler or worker, or anything else cannot even be rushed if this would
disband a city. I've tried all of the above to get rid of a city.

The only thing I could see that would work (from one of the threads) is to somehow lose control of the city and then conquer it and "Immediately" disband it, instead of keeping it.

If there is another way, I'd like to know, like maybe a Hot-Key or some menu option I'm missing?

It will be disbanded. The key is to have no growth. That is, if there is any extra food being produced, the city will not disband. Note that this could make it impossible to disband a city built on certain tiles because you can't stop using the tile the city is built on.

I posted a similar question a while back on Apolyton (I've given up on them, too many idiots on that board), and somebody mentioned that on Chieftan and Warlord (the two easiest levels), you couldn't disband cities at all, but could at higher levels. I didn't have a chance to test the theory though.

Oh my! Didn't mention that because this is my first game played on CIV3 that I am playing on the easiest level.
