God of War: Not actually good for war?

I played my first real in-depth G&K game yesterday, and I'm really liking Ethiopia as a cultural powerhouse that isn't quite so heavy-handed as India. I picked God of War as my pantheon belief and it's doing me a lot of good because I've been locked in a 1000-year defensive war with Askia since the dawn of time.

It got me thinking, though, isn't this expressly not the right pick if you're seeking conquest? I like the ability, just that it should have a different name.

I think Faith Healers (30hp/turn unit healing next to your cities) is an awesome Pantheon ability for warmongers. Take a city and heal all your adjacent units in 2 or less turns. The 30 hp/turn stacks with your usual 20hp/turn to heal you for 50hp/turn when next to your recently acquired city.

God of War seems like it would produce more in a defensive or pitched battle. If you are using it offensively, you would want to take a city first, then kill the units around it to maximize your output. That can be kind of difficult.

I always pick stuff that boosts my economy over something that may affect me directly in combat.

War needs to be supported by the economy and a strong economy/production base will make you unstoppable.
