I've reinstalled everything a billion times, I've downloaded the new xml parser, I cleared all the cache from the spots I found it, I've turned on and off the xml caching in the ini, I've restarted a billion times, my sound drivers are up to date and this is unrelated. No matter WHAT I DO I cannot get the game to not have XML errors which result in names of cities, and mods not displaying anything but XML gibberish. My problems is about exactly the same as Charles Li in post 112 of http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=132992&page=6
It used to work! I was able to play BTS fine without errors, and the warlord scenarios. However, the BTS scenarios wouldn't work without the damn XML errors popping up. So I reinstalled. Big mistake. Now BTS AND Warlords as well as all the mods and scenarios have the same problem. Vanilla is fine, but why would I play that?
No matter what I do... I can't figure this out. I'm going crazy! I can't believe I'm having such problems with this game!!!
Every time I start, I get a collection of messages one after another like these. It will happen once when I first start BTS or warlords then just stay that way, but always happens with scenarios/mods when they start and load.
I am set to an English unicode setting. I originally had it at Japanese, (and it worked then until I reinstalled) but thought if I set it back it would fix things but no. I've tried EVERYTHING. It seems burned in and corrupted into my system now... what on earth do i do?
Please... please help me. I just want to play this great game again, but whoever, f'd up this XML idea... needs to be fired.
