is this game going to be completely different from civilization iv?
i mean i have heard about no stacks, and the hexagons and such,
so do you think a low-average minded person like me will be able
to play it with out a headache?

I don't think it will be that much different. You shouldn't have too much problem with picking up any new game concepts.

Civ fanatics always has good strategy articles so you could get help from a wide variety of people.

I think Sid Meir's credo is 1/3 the same, 1/3 refined and 1/3 new. 2/3rds of the game will be familiar to you already. :)

Trust me, Civ4 was not simple. It was by far the most complicated game of the series. City maintenance was not such a mechanic easy to apprehend. You had to play & try again and again in order to learn it. That was, in my mind, a flaw.

I hope Civ5 will be far less complicated to apprehend, for example with the lack of cottages that we didn't see for now in any of the pictures showed.

On the other hand, i wouldn't want that Civ5 to become a rude game such a CivRev. In CivRev, the major flaw was the diplomacy with the AI. AIs constantly demanded insane tribute for only some turns of peace. That didn't make sense. You ended up to be at war with every single AI on the game (when each of them was at war with ONLY you! ), it was bearable in the first three easy difficulty level but unplayble in the two last.
