So I picked up BNW and played for a bit and so far I am really liking it. I think for my first serious game I was looking to do a domination focus but leave all options turned on. While playing a few quick games I came across 2 questions.

1) With BNW which Civ would make a good war civ. I've used the Mongols in the past with great success but want to try someone different.

2)Happiness!! It seems to be such an issue as I struggle to maintain empire happiness. Gold is not an issue but this is. Any tips for getting this higher? I've traded excess luxuries for ones I dont have to other civs but this may not be viable for a domination game.

3) When building my cities what tile combos should I look for? Being a war civ I imagine plains/flood plains with hills would be my ideal combo yes?

Thanks!

1.The Zulu are probably the best out of the expansion for warmongering, with half maintenance melee units and a pretty sick UU and UB combo.
Venice is good for naval combat with their Great Galleas if you want to go for ocean domination and a large puppet empire.

2. Honestly mercantile CS's are still the best way, but just make sure that every city you found has at least one lux, preferrably two.

3. Yes.

1. Zuluuuuuu! Or really assyria. People are raving about the siege tower. Plus you get techs from conquered cities so you don't fall too far behind.

2. Religion can be very helpful. Make friendswwith cs? Policies can also help. If you want a good civ for easy happiness Portugal can use its feitoras to get luxury resources from CSs without investing in their friendship.

3. I would imagine production but I am not an early game war mongerer sorry :D

Happiness depends on keeping your population fed, having luxuries and having social/faith tenets that boost it. Also, the wider you go, the more spread out your happiness gets. If you're going on conquest, Raze those cities you don't need.
