Just a heads up that Golden Age has been changed again -- in the previous game I played they were maxed out at 10k, which is effectively useless past the first day or so. But now it's on some sort of sliding scale depending on the current economic victory condition. I stumbled upon it looking up the max for Voyage.

(Note: Golden Age was actually updated in the previous update, not the current one with the nerfed maze.)

In the game I just completed, we were in a 4 player civ. We were running tech for a little bit, but due to the nerf this morning, I had to plan other ways to get the other victories. (Probably still could've won tech, but would've took maybe another day.)

For 4 players, the Golden Age only requires 2 GPs. For the 500k win mark, the max was ~35k. This means you get the max bonus at 160k or so. If you've built a sizable stockpile of money, perhaps thanks to the market, you can even just buy the 2 GPs (Builder/Scientist) from the market and get the benefit. For the 800k, the max was at ~57k.

I didn't run this until near the end, so my team didn't really build for it. Actually the distribution was about 250k (me), 15k, 15k, 5k. Since I've already hit my max, I gave the other players a stash of money each, and then popped the Golden Age. Of course after that, we're wiser with our money, which we have quite a bit anyways.

At this point, it was 2 Golden Ages for the era win. At 2 GP each, it was cheap and accelerated the game quite a bit -- got 2 era wins with Golden Ages alone (had prior economic wins, but not due to Golden Ages), and we built wonders to end the game, pretty much buying GPs with cash -- we had 900k!

Okay, they might nerf this in a little while, but for now, consider Golden Age!

Whether GA is worth doing really depends on the price of GP. If they are cheap, it is a good idea, especially in a small civ.

Ya, just saying it went from practically useless to maybe worth a consider. 6 GPs for a large civ might raise the prices too much, but maybe at that point it's worth having a city or two go cultural.

It's fairly simple to get the economic victory to 300k, even without Golden Age. There were not many players in the games that could afford a 20k GP, so the prices would come down -- I bought 2 at 15k each to generate 37k * 3.

It really depends on the market. In one of my games, Artists are around 5k, so yes, go for it, while in another they are 33k.
